LOST ORANGE TABBY/TIGER CAT IN HUNTERSVILLE
My husband Scott and I recently moved to the Vermillion subdivision in Huntersville. Our orange tabby/tiger cat somehow got outside and we're worried that she won't be able to find her way home. She is 16 years old and is small, but chubby. Her name is "Ruby" and we miss her very much! If you think that you see her, PLEASE CALL US IMMEDIATELY.

Could the county Greenway cut through your back yard???
Hello,
I just read a very interesting article on Charlotte.com The article is about Mecklenburg County's greenway system. Mecklenburg County has already built 12 greenways and 23 miles of trails. The original plan called for the entire greenway system to be linked throughout the county creating a 185 mile path. The intentions of this plan were great; however the plan did not take into consideration the rights of the private property owners.
One Huntersville resident learned of Mecklenburg County and Huntersville's greenway plan that would have brought a path right through the middle of her back yard!!! "I can't imagine sitting on my deck, drinking my morning tea and instead of seeing squirrels and birds in my trees, watching bikers zip past me in my backyard."
Below is the link to the article. If you are working with buyers and sellers in Mecklenburg County, I would definitely check it out and learn more about the proposed greenway system. Some are actually calling for legislation that would ban the use of eminent domain for greenways.

Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce Business Expo 2008
If you haven't already heard, the Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce Business Expo is scheduled for Friday, March 7th from 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. From 4:30 until 6:00 there will be a benefit for the United Way of Central Carolinas. ADMISSION IS FREE and the expo is open to the public. It will be held at Davidson College Baker Sports Complex and more than 170 of the Lake Norman area businesses will be there spreading the good word about their business. Local artists will be featured, and there will be a spotlight of Lake Norman area attractions and cultural exhibits. Food and beverages will be available for purchase from McAlister's Deli @ Lake Norman, HoneyBaked Ham Co & Cafe, Midtown Sundries Harborside, eeZ Fushion Sushi, and Carolina Beer & Beverage Co.

Hello,
I came across this great website and just had to share it. I don't know about you, but I have much better things to do than sit on a phone and push buttons and try to get a computer to understand what I am saying. To help bypass this problem, check out the following site: www.GetHuman.com It gives special instruction on how to bypass the computers and get a person on the phone for over 400 companies!!! For example, to get someone on the phone at NetZero simply press #### at each prompt, ignoring any messages.

Supersize Me: The Redevelopment of Dilworth
Hello,
Here is a link to a very interesting article about the redevelopment of one of Charlotte's most desirable neighborhoods, Dilworth. The article discusses how a lot of the original houses are being demolished to make way for new, super sized homes. For those of you not familiar with Dilworth, this area has seen tremendous appreciation in property values in recent history. Due to the large trees, close proximity to Charlotte, and neighborhood restaurants, Dilworth has become one of the most desirable areas in Charlotte.

Home Maintenance Tasks for February
As I'm sure you know, the best way to keep up with the maintenance of your home is to chip away at it by doing a little bit each month. Everyone knows that it is easier said than done, especially since so many of us have such hectic schedules. So, when you read the article from weather.com titled HOME MAINTENANCE TASKS: FEBRUARY, make a conscious effort to get these tasks accomplished before March 1st.
As I tell my sellers, it's much less stressful to put a home on the market that has been maintained over the years. Get in the habit of maintaining and you'll have less repairing to do when it's time to sell. If you don't keep up with the maintenance of your home while you live in it, $YOU'LL PAY FOR IT$ when you decide it's time to sell!

Hello,
Here is a link to an interesting article from the Washington Post. The article describes research that contends that people will pay more for a house if the price does not end in a bunch of zeros!
Here is an excerpt from the article:
"The study concluded that because people are used to precise numbers for items that don't cost much and to round numbers for large amounts, consumers generally and home buyers specifically tend to perceive that a price is smaller if there are digits at the end instead of zeros."

Charlotte Area Real Estate Update: CMLS Remains Strong

Here is a link to a great article from the Charlotte Observer about the housing trends in the Charlotte area compared to the national real estate market.
Here are a few interesting excerpts from the article:
"Sales of homes, condos and townhouses through Carolina Multiple Listing Services totaled 38,610 last year. The average closing price was $231,166, up about 2 percent from the year before."
"Nationally, home sales dipped almost 13 percent last year, compared with 2006, and the median price fell 1.4 percent."
